Gantz

Anyone else following the manga?

One of the more recent chapter's answered a few of the big questions the series' been carrying since the get-go

(image warning, anyone uncomfortable with human anatomy should probably keep this one spoilered)

Spoiler:

So apparently all of these aliens that we've seen hunted are basically just immigrants from other worlds, and the Gantz(es?), along with all of the other weapons and gadgets the hunters have been using were sent to Earth another race of seemingly omnipotent aliens on an apathetic whim via some sort of message they radio'd into a wealthy German dude's retarded, morbidly obese daughter that he translated and decided to try to create make money off of.The big invaders that've been bleaching the sky red and screwing up all the non-hunters are pretty much beat aside from one war god-like hero that's determined to kick Kurono's ass or crash the rest or wipe the rest of humanity out with by crashing the mother ship into Earth if he refuses. And last but not least, the human race is pretty much just a bunch of arrogant jerks and can't get over the fact that they're just chunks of matter, a portion of which gets carried over to another life and usually around the same area as the people they hung out with in the past life.

Not exactly the answers I was expecting, but hey, they're answers. I'm just happy Nishi's finally re-re-re-dead and clone Kurono and Reika are finally out of the picture. It was also cool to see Kurono's old guy sidekick again, albeit naked, and for 2 seconds before he was spattered all over the floor again. Also kinda glad we're through that chaotic "wtf is going on" part of this arc that I'm pretty sure has been going on for about a year. Anyway, with a bunch of loose ends tied up and this arc finally at its supposed boss battle, I can't help but think we're on the last legs of this series. Might even have a bit of a LOST ending considering the corporate masterminds behind the Gantz end of the war got suicide bombed a while ago.

Not exactly sure if anyone really reads this considering the fillerific ending the anime tacked on, but if you do;

What'dya guys think?

Haven't read Gantz in ages. I got up to around chapter 200 and things were just getting too weird...

lol Ah, the Oni mission. Yeah, that's one of the the missions that're pretty much just there for filler. I'd try to stick it out for the next mission before kicking it for good. The Osaka job they get paired with a second, more experienced Gantz squad with member that've "beaten the game" 3-7 times who chose to keep hunting with upgraded equipment rather than leaving or reviving people.
