Gun Control Junk Mail - What do you think?

Post by joshier on Thu Feb 14, 2013 7:10 am

I realize this links to the already existing Gun Control thread however as opposed to debating gun control in general I am interesting in what you think of this specific mail (Or any similar ones you may have received). Below is the junk mail I received:

Overwhelming evidence has surfaced to prove that Sandy Hooks is a hoax. For example, the recently released CNN helicopter footage that is supposed to show children escaping from the school is obviously set somewhere else. The "grieving" parents are surprisingly joyful during their interviews. The footage from the early hours of the incident shows a traffic pattern that makes it impossible for emergency vehicles to operate. There are many other points with various degrees of credibility, but anyone doing serious research should find plenty to disprove the "official" story. In spite of this, many people still manage to believe the TV version of the Sandy Hoax drama.

The critics often say that it is crazy to believe that Sandy Hook is a hoax, but this is simply an irrational emotional response. Their main argument is that the media and the government would not make such a big lie and then lie so poorly. This is the exact working principle of the "Big Lie", one of Hitler's techniques. Many people know about this technique and then fall for it anyway. Another common claim is that it's hard to fake that many deaths, but the "victims" could have been easily paid off to live with new identities. Regardless of the facts, sheeple believe what is shown on TV. They are suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome - they've learnt to love Big Brother. Accurate information and logic do not matter to them. Without the means to defend themselves, they are just sheep being led to the slaughter.

The proposed gun control legislation does not improve public safety, but reduces the ability of the people to resist tyranny. High capacity magazines are not necessary to kill unarmed people or commit crime, but are very important for fighting armed minions of a tyrannical government, and deterrring a foreign enemy invasion. Making fighting weapons less available to people reduces their ability to defend themselves. People without the ability to defend themselves are at greater risk than people that can defend themselves.

While the threat of a crazy gunman exists, it pales in comparison to the threat of a murderous government. Murderous governments are not fiction, but historical fact and have emerged virtually everywhere where gun control has been put in place. Even today, millions of political prisoners are being tortured to death in communist countries. People point to the many Western nations that have gun control but no murderous governments as examples, but these governments know that if they were to start killing their own people, Americans would step in. America is the last bastion of freedom on the planet and that is why America is under sustained attack.

The biggest threat to America today comes from within. That threat is traitors in high positions. These traitors work covertly and watch their actions carefully lest they become exposed in a manner that removes the doubt of the public, most of whom cannot believe that such massive treason can take place in our society. They have chosen the ideal cover for their goals of subverting America - the guise of public servants. Using their positions of power, they have gradually eroded our freedoms and rights to further increase their own power. America is now on the brink of dictatorship, where this small group of traitors can have unlimited control of the nation.

The ignorance of the public makes tyranny possible. Many people still believe the Sandy Hoax made for TV drama/story. This amazing feat of ignorance can only be explained by a mental disorder. This type of mass psychosis is one of the conditions necessary for a brutal regime to come to power with popular support. This is the type of mass psychosis that has fueled the public support of murderous dictators like Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot. This type of mass psychosis is now prevalent in America and the traitors know it. It is no surprise that they are now seeking to disarm the rest of us, so that we cannot resist their planned tyranny.

Gun control legislation is in direct violation of the Constitution that the legislators have sworn an oath to uphold. The Constitution recognizes and protects the right of the People to own firearms and to use them for self-defense. These are not privileges granted by the Constitution, they are God-given rights that are recognized and protected under the Constitution. They are rights that every legislator has sworn an oath to protect, regardless of religion. Legislation that violates the Constitution is an act of treason. Planning such legislation is planning to commit treason. Feindstein is one of the people planning this, but she is not alone. Feindstein herself has suspicious links to communist China. With leaders like this, it is not surprising that China's economy bloomed while California's withered. Her co-conspirators may have similar alternative allegiances. If they can disarm the people and rewrite the Constitution, there will be nothing to stop them from making pol!
icies to imprison people opposed to them, or to use their positions of power for profit at the expense of the nation. They are already filthy rich from having done that.

Some people say that the weapons available to the people are not sufficient to protect freedom from tyranny, because the state has much more powerful weapons. There is truth to this criticism and this is because the state has been gradually eroding self-defense rights of the people for some time now. Under the Constitution the people should be able to possess the same weapons as the government, without restrictions. That includes fully-automatic weapons. Needing a permit for concealed carry is already an infringement of the Second Amendment. At the same time, the state has been arming itself to the teeth, including armored vehicles and drones. These weapons are a threat to our freedom and our lives. That money should be used to build our communities, instead of holding us hostage. The legislation that infringes on our rights needs to be removed and our rights must be restored and vigilantly guarded.

It's a chain mail, so immediately its credibility is suspect. It then goes on to invoke Godwin's Law within the second paragraph, further calling into question its legitimacy once more. Spelling errors. No citations for any of its claims. Comes up with a crazy unfounded conspiracy theory about fabricated mass shootings in order to pander to right wing gun fanatics. Implies that both corporate and local news sources are somehow all in cahoots in this ridiculously unlikely conspiracy, and further insinuates that anyone who disagrees with it must have a mental disorder. Makes blatantly false claims that overstretch the authority of the second amendment. Makes baseless accusations of shady links to communist China. In conclusion, it suggests there should be no restrictions on weapons whatsoever; private individuals should be allowed to own anything and everything that the government has as well, which by implication suggests that private individuals and corporations should be allowed to own nuclear arms if they so desire. Anubis help us all.

Wow, I'd say this was an entertaining read, which really goes to show how easy Colbert has it nowadays. All he has to do is just quote this stuff verbatim and it's already a parody of itself.

Even if we assumed that this conspiracy was accurate, there's only a dozen other recent mass shooting cases we could simply point to as more examples that we have gun violence issues. The idea that the rich and powerful want to seize control by taking away your guns is ridiculous. If anything they are being forced to hold a vote on this legislation because it is wildly unpopular to do otherwise. The NRA has a tight grip over congress and has spent millions of dollars lobbying politicians for lax gun laws. The "rich" and "powerful" have a vested interest precisely NOT to take away your guns, but over 80% of Americans now support universal background checks for firearms, so congress is faced with the unfortunate disposition of having to vote against their constituents or against their donors.

On the plus side, at least I agree that drones are a growing threat to our freedom and privacy. I think that's about the only positive thing I can say about this long-winded rambling mess of a chain mail. Oh wait, actually I just thought of another point to his credit. It's unfortunate that this guy's creative talents are wasted on believing his own fantasies, because he would otherwise make a really good writer for the next movie starring Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson.

this was a pretty big topic a few weeks ago, i think most people simply have forgotten about it now

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d516tIViRLI

even someone like me who loves a good ol conspiacy theory, find alot of problems and wild assumptions in this video, but some of it is just crazy.

what gets me is the facebook pages and the weak ass arguments against it.

some of the donation pages on facebook were make 1-3 days BEFORE the shooting. now, the argument is, a repurpoused facebook page keeps the original day. well, duh, everyone knows that but WHAT ARE THE CHANCES!?!? also, your average adult wouldnt think that they can just change all the info on a facebook page, not to mention an empty one, your average adult would just make a new one.

ANYWAY yea, so i expect this thread to go out of control.

Regretfully this entire chain-mail reminds me of tangential speech. To quote Wikipedia, "tangential speech is a communication disorder in which the train of thought of the speaker wanders and shows a lack of focus, never returning to the initial topic of the conversation."

I think it's time to check the anti virus in your computer. Also check your email settings and make sure you don't get spam like this in the future. Crazy emails is not amusing to me at all.

Regardless of what I may feel, this is junk plain and simple.

Edit
Um let me clarify. On a political spectrum I lean a little to the right but I have almost zero tolerance for extreme views that defy the norm (they just seem to divide the country imo). Funny enough I rather put up with extreme left ideology then extreme right. At least those guys are honest about socialism (ask them about socialism vs capitalism and they'll dodge the question and blast capitalism. Close enough to honesty for me in political speak). Extreme right sounds like a bunch of conspiracy nuts always using fear tactics and such (Then they claim they do no wrong). Any way that's what the mail reminded me of.

One more note about Godwin's law. The above mail is a perfect example of using it in the most insane circumstance that is hard to take seriously.

Please keep in mind though that I do believe the media can manipulate information, they have in the past and can still do so but for the above reason!? That's crazy talk. For separate arguments (not the one above), I do believe their is plausible reason to apply this law depending on the subject. Unless I got my definitions incorrect, claiming that totalitarian regimes use similar tactics as the Nazis does not seem all that crazy to me. (of course I probably got the whole idea of the theory messed up Question )

I wish Republicans can condemn these nutcases and claim to protect the constitution. Of course the party is in "identity crises" mode. I say Republicans since they seem pro gun and more likely to make such comments, well the crazy ones anyway.

So anyway long story short the mail is junk spam, check for viruses, and the above mail is extreme and likely a troll attempt from the sender (I hope Shocked ).

Edit again Mad
I look like I'm raving here so lets keep it simple and say crazy people don't help the world in any way Very Happy

**Mostly tl;dr stuff**

Emails like this don't need to be sent to random people no matter how good of a case they make or not. Especially when it arises from speculation. If they want to get their point across they should find different means of it rather than to add to a person's personal inbox.

People should do their own research to formulate their own opinion and not jump into the opinions of others.

Very much so, however, they are good for a quick laugh more often than not
